A poem I wrote in collaboration with Dev Phung, a Puget Sound based artist. The poem was an ekphrasis written in response to visual art Karikal Heart by artist Alexis Rockman. The poem was written with the intent of either being read by oneself or a duo who can choose which lines to alternate. The formatting was a part of the initial concept process. I wrote the bulk of the lines while Dev edited and stylized the formatting of the work. Thematically the poem is meant to represent longing, both in response to the burning and loss of land, and a connection with someone in response to the former.

Genre: Poetry. First published in Clamor Literary and Art’s Journal 2026, in June 2026.
